Golden Chickpeas

Brindisa Epic Golden Chickpeas 500g are a carefully selected Spanish chickpea, grown around the town of Fuentesaúco in Zamora, an area known for producing particularly well-textured pulses. These medium to large chickpeas have a warm, creamy colour and a distinctive curved shape, with a naturally nutty flavour that comes through once cooked.

When prepared, they hold their shape while becoming soft and buttery inside, with a smooth skin that doesn’t toughen. This balance of texture makes them especially versatile, working just as well in slow-cooked dishes as they do in lighter recipes. Their ability to absorb flavours while remaining intact means they perform reliably in a wide range of cooking styles.

Packed in a traditional cloth sack, these dried Spanish chickpeas are a dependable store cupboard staple, suited to everything from comforting stews to fresh, ingredient-led dishes.

Why are Fuentesaúco chickpeas considered special?

They are known for their consistent texture after cooking, with a soft skin and creamy centre that doesn’t split easily, making them highly regarded in Spanish cooking.

Do chickpeas need soaking before cooking?

Yes, soaking for around 12 hours helps them cook more evenly and improves their final texture.

How can you tell when chickpeas are properly cooked?

They should be tender all the way through with no firmness in the centre, while still holding their shape rather than breaking apart.
