Monolith Avantgarde 55 Classic

The Monolith Avantgarde 55 Classic Kamado Grill is a premium ceramic charcoal barbecue designed for precise cooking, modern outdoor kitchens, and serious all-round versatility. Combining advanced kamado technology with sleek contemporary styling, this high-performance grill is built from durable silicate ceramic with a satin black finish that looks just as impressive on a terrace or garden setup as it performs during cooking.

Designed to handle everything from high-heat steak searing to low and slow smoking, the Avantgarde 55 offers exceptional temperature stability across a broad cooking range of approximately 70°C to 400°C. The thick ceramic body retains heat efficiently while helping reduce charcoal consumption, making it suitable for long smoking sessions, roasting joints of meat, baking pizzas, or cooking over direct flame. The 44cm cooking surface gives plenty of room for barbecue favourites including brisket, ribs, seafood, vegetables, pizzas, and rotisserie-style dishes.

The integrated Smart Grid System (SGS) adds flexibility for multi-zone cooking, allowing different ingredients to cook at separate temperatures simultaneously. Stainless steel fittings, a stainless steel fibreglass sealing system, and cast iron components all contribute to durability and consistent airflow control. The integrated wood chip feeder also makes it easy to add smoking pellets or wood chips without lifting the lid, helping maintain stable cooking temperatures while building authentic BBQ flavour.

One of the standout details of the Monolith Avantgarde range is the built-in LED lighting integrated into the lid handle, offering added visibility for evening grilling and outdoor entertaining. BBQ Guru compatibility also allows connection to digital temperature controllers for more precise heat management during smoking or slow roasting sessions. Optional carbonised heavy bamboo side tables and a separate wheeled cart allow the grill to be customised into a complete outdoor cooking station.

Perfect alongside lumpwood charcoal, smoking wood chips, BBQ rubs, hot sauces, cast iron cookware, pizza stones, marinades, and grilling accessories, the Monolith Avantgarde 55 Classic Kamado Grill delivers modern ceramic barbecue cooking with a clean, refined finish.

What is the Smart Grid System on the Monolith Avantgarde 55?

The Smart Grid System is a multi-level cooking setup that allows direct and indirect cooking at the same time. It helps create separate heat zones, making it easier to cook meat, vegetables, and sides simultaneously without constantly moving ingredients around the grill.

Why does ceramic construction matter on a kamado grill?

Ceramic helps stabilise temperatures by retaining and circulating heat evenly throughout the cooking chamber. This creates steady cooking conditions for smoking, roasting, and baking while also helping food retain moisture during longer cooks.

Are LED lights on the Monolith handle practical or decorative?

The integrated LED lights are designed as a functional feature rather than just styling. They improve visibility around the cooking area during evening grilling sessions and outdoor dining, particularly when checking temperatures or handling food after dark.
