Tree Ring Plate

The Pordamsa Arbre Matt Plate 24cm brings an organic, nature-inspired feel to modern food presentation. Part of Pordamsa’s Arbre Collection, the white porcelain surface is detailed with subtle concentric textures inspired by the growth rings found inside a tree trunk, creating an interesting backdrop without competing with the food.

Its 24cm size is particularly versatile for starters, desserts, smaller main courses and contemporary plated dishes. The matt white finish provides plenty of contrast for colourful sauces, vegetables and garnishes, while the textured surface adds another dimension to simple, pared-back plating.

At i4C, we particularly like the Arbre Collection when the food itself has a natural, seasonal feel. Think roasted mushrooms, earthy vegetables, foraged ingredients or a beautifully simple dessert – the tree-ring texture becomes part of the presentation without needing lots of additional decoration.

  • Present a restaurant-style dessert with chocolate crémeux, caramelised pear, crumble and a small scoop of sorbet arranged around the textured surface.
  • Use the plate for a smaller main course of roasted fish, seasonal vegetables and a carefully spooned sauce, keeping the arrangement simple enough for the Arbre pattern to remain visible.

What is the Pordamsa Arbre Collection inspired by?

The Arbre Collection takes its inspiration from trees and woodland, recreating the appearance of natural growth rings across individual pieces. This gives the tableware an organic quality particularly suited to nature-led and seasonal food presentation.

Why does matt white tableware work well for food photography and presentation?

Matt surfaces reflect less direct light than highly glossy tableware, which can help reduce distracting reflections. White also provides a neutral backdrop, allowing the natural colours and textures of the food to become the main visual focus.

How should food be plated on textured tableware?

Rather than covering the entire surface, consider leaving some of the texture visible around the dish. Using the pattern as part of the composition can make sauces, garnishes and individual ingredients feel more connected to the plate itself.
