Peeler

The Microplane Professional Peeler is a precision kitchen tool designed to make peeling fruit and vegetables quicker, smoother and more controlled. Its ultra-sharp stainless steel double blade swivels by up to 30°, allowing it to follow the natural contours of everything from long carrots and courgettes to round potatoes, apples, mangoes and even tougher butternut squash.

Unlike a traditional fixed peeler, the curved double blade can move backwards and forwards with minimal pressure, removing thin, consistent strips as you work. The slightly weighted, balanced design feels reassuringly substantial in the hand, while the ergonomic Soft Touch handle provides a comfortable grip and precise control for both right and left-handed use. There’s also an integrated potato eye remover for those small preparation jobs.

Usage Ideas:

  • Use the Microplane Professional Peeler for quick everyday preparation of potatoes, carrots, parsnips, turnips and other root vegetables.
  • Create long courgette, carrot or cucumber ribbons for salads, vegetable side dishes and decorative plating.
  • Peel mangoes and apples with greater control, following their curved surfaces while removing a thin layer of skin.
  • Prepare butternut squash for roasting, soups and curries using the sharp swivelling blade to tackle its firm outer skin.

Why does a swivelling blade make a vegetable peeler easier to use?

A swivelling blade adjusts its angle as it moves across the surface of an ingredient. This helps the blade maintain contact when moving around curves and irregular shapes, rather than requiring the wrist to constantly compensate for changes in angle.

What is the advantage of a double-bladed vegetable peeler?

A double blade allows peeling movements to be made in both directions. This can make repetitive preparation quicker and more fluid, particularly when working through larger quantities of vegetables.

Can a vegetable peeler be used to make garnishes?

Yes. A sharp peeler can produce thin ribbons and strips from vegetables such as cucumber, courgette and carrot. These can be curled, layered or dressed for salads, canapés and plate garnishes without requiring a mandoline.
