Silicone Brush

The KitchenCraft Silicone Pastry Brush is a practical kitchen essential for glazing, basting and brushing with plenty of control and very little fuss. Its flexible 25mm silicone bristles reach easily into corners and around edges, helping you apply an even coating without dragging or damaging delicate pastry.

Use it to brush beaten egg or milk over pies, sausage rolls and pastries for a glossy golden finish, spread melted butter over bread and dough, or apply marinades and glazes to meat and vegetables. Unlike traditional bristle pastry brushes, the silicone design is easy to clean and won't leave stray bristles behind on your food.

It is also heat resistant up to 260°C, making it useful as a silicone basting brush around hot pans, roasting trays and barbecue cooking.

Key Features:

  • Measures 25mm wide for controlled application.
  • Made from flexible, durable silicone.
  • Heat resistant up to 260°C (500°F).
  • Lightweight 30g construction for comfortable handling.
  • Finished in blue for easy identification.
  • Integrated hanging hole provides convenient kitchen storage.
  • Silicone bristles won't shed like traditional natural-bristle brushes.

Usage Ideas:

  • Brush homemade croissants and pain au chocolat with egg wash before baking to create an attractive golden finish.
  • Coat roast vegetables with olive oil, melted butter or flavoured oils before placing them in the oven.
  • Brush barbecue sauce or marinades over meat and vegetables during cooking for an even coating without pouring on too much.
  • Use the brush to grease cake tins, baking trays and pastry moulds with melted butter or oil, reaching neatly into edges and corners.

What is the advantage of a silicone pastry brush?

Silicone bristles are durable, flexible and resistant to high temperatures. They are also less prone to absorbing oils, flavours and odours than traditional natural-bristle brushes, making them particularly practical for switching between different kitchen jobs.

Is a 25mm pastry brush suitable for detailed baking?

Yes. A 25mm brush is relatively compact, giving you greater control when glazing smaller pastries, brushing around decorative pastry work or applying egg wash close to edges where a larger brush could be cumbersome.

What else can a pastry brush be used for besides baking?

A pastry brush is surprisingly versatile. Beyond glazing pastry, it can be used for spreading melted butter, applying cooking oils, brushing syrups onto sponge cakes, coating bread with garlic butter and adding sauces or marinades during cooking.
