Mini Onions in Honey & Balsamic
Drivers Mini Onions in Honey & Balsamic Vinegar 550g are crisp silverskin onions steeped in a sweet and tangy blend of balsamic vinegar and honey. The richness of balsamic and gentle sweetness of honey soften the traditional sharpness of pickled onions, creating a more rounded pickle that works particularly well with cheese, charcuterie and savoury sharing food.
Their small size makes them ideal for serving whole on grazing boards and antipasti platters, but there is plenty more you can do with them. Tuck them into sandwiches, serve alongside pâté and pork pies, add them to salads or use them as a sweet-sharp accompaniment to roasted and grilled meats.
Drivers have been making pickles since 1906, with the fourth generation of the Driver family continuing the tradition today. At i4C, we think these mini balsamic pickled onions deserve a permanent place on the cheeseboard – particularly alongside a mature Cheddar, good crackers and perhaps a spoonful of chutney.

What are silverskin onions?
Silverskin onions are small onions prized for their neat shape and crisp texture. Their miniature size makes them particularly well suited to pickling because they can be preserved and served whole.
Why do balsamic vinegar and honey work well with pickled onions?
Balsamic vinegar contributes acidity alongside naturally rich, sweet and fruity notes, while honey rounds out the sharper edges of the pickle. The combination is particularly good with salty and strongly flavoured cheeses.
Can you use the vinegar from a jar of pickled onions?
The flavoured vinegar can be put to good use in dressings and sauces once the onions have been served. Try whisking a little with extra virgin olive oil and Dijon mustard to make a sweet and tangy vinaigrette for salads or roasted vegetables.
