Fresh Beef Stock

Truefoods Beef Stock 2.5kg is a proper kitchen staple made from British beef bones, slowly cooked to give a clear, russet coloured stock with a fresh, deeply beefy flavour. It is the sort of stock that quietly improves the whole meal, bringing richness to soups and stews, body to sauces and jus, and a fuller taste to everyday dishes like bolognese and casseroles. Because there is no added salt and no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, you can season and build flavour exactly how you like. It is strong enough to baste a roast, finish a gravy, or even serve on its own as a warming beef tea when you want something savoury and comforting.

Key Features:

  • 2.5kg pack size.
  • Beef bones at 28% for natural flavour and body.
  • Clear russet colour with a clean beef forward profile.
  • Free from artificial colours flavours and preservatives and made with no added salt.

Recipe Inspiration:

  • Reduce with red wine and a knob of butter for a classic steak sauce.
  • Use as the base for slow cooked beef stew with root veg and herbs.
  • Stir into bolognese or chilli to add depth and a richer finish.
  • Make a simple beef tea with a twist of black pepper and a squeeze of lemon.

Why does quality beef stock matter so much in sauces and gravy?

Good stock brings natural gelatin and concentrated savoury flavour, which helps sauces thicken gently and taste rounded without relying on flour heavy thickening.

What makes a stock clear and russet rather than cloudy?

Clarity usually comes from careful simmering and skimming during cooking, while the russet colour is linked to roasted bones and tomato purée used during preparation.

Is beef stock useful even if you do not cook a lot of beef?

Yes it works brilliantly in vegetable soups, mushroom dishes and lentil based meals, adding savoury depth and a more satisfying finish without changing the main character of the dish.
